Copper is one of those materials that only gets better with time. It starts out with that warm, bright penny tone - and over the years it develops a natural patina that most materials can't come close to matching. That's exactly why it's such a smart choice when you want something that does its job and keeps looking sharp while it does it.

For this job in Vancouver, Washington, we fabricated a 20oz copper awning from scratch in our shop. We cut, bent, and seamed every panel by hand to get the geometry right - the sloped sides, the clean flat face, the tight corners. Nothing off a shelf. Every piece was made specifically for this opening, which is the only way to get a result that actually fits the way it should.

Once it was done in the shop, we installed it right over the window on the exterior. The copper sits flush against the building and creates a natural water-shedding profile that protects the window below. It's not just decorative - it's doing real work every time it rains.

What makes custom sheet metal work like this worth it is the longevity. Painted steel rusts. Aluminum fades. Copper just keeps going. You're not replacing it in five years or touching it up every season. It's the kind of detail that adds character to a building for decades without asking much in return.

This is the type of custom fabrication work we genuinely enjoy doing. It takes real skill to get clean seams and consistent geometry on a piece like this, and the finished result speaks for itself on the building exterior.
