Most chimney caps are purely functional - flat, generic, and forgettable. This one is different. We fabricated this 20oz copper concave chimney cap from scratch in our shop for a home in Portland, Oregon, and it's one of those pieces that earns a second look from the street.
The concave profile is what makes this design stand out. Those sweeping inward curves running from the crown down to the skirt are not easy to pull off cleanly in sheet metal. Each seam has to be tight, each bend has to be consistent, and the copper mesh screen running around the full perimeter has to be fitted without gaps. When you're working with a material like 20oz copper, there's no hiding sloppy work - the surface tells on you. We take that seriously.
Beyond the looks, copper is genuinely one of the best materials you can put on top of a chimney. It doesn't rust. It holds up against everything the Pacific Northwest throws at it - the rain, the moss, the freeze-thaw cycles. Over time it develops that classic patina that actually makes it look better with age. A cap like this isn't a temporary fix. It's a long-term investment in protecting the chimney from water intrusion, animal entry, and debris.
We handle everything in-house - design, fabrication, and installation. That matters because when we build something custom, we can account for the exact dimensions of the chimney, the look of the home, and any specific functional needs the customer has. Nothing is ordered off a shelf and shimmed to fit. It's built for that chimney, period.
If you've got a chimney that needs a cap - whether you want something custom like this or just need a solid, well-fitted replacement - we work throughout the Portland metro area and surrounding communities.
